The Wishblade is very versitile - it will cut almost anything you want it to. However, because it can do so much there is a learning curve. The good thing is that you can start using it without a lot of prior knowledge. Cutting basic fonts and dingbats is a breeze. You can then begin to master all the other things that you can do.
I actually have the old machine but I bought the new software when it came out this Spring. The new software actually takes some of the difficulty out of doing some tasks like welded words and tracing clip-art. Before we did have to use two other pieces of software to do this, but the new software will do it for you. In fact, all you have to do to trace a .wmf clip-art is simply drop it in. The new software takes care of the tracing automatically. The new software also controls the machine much better - it cuts a lot faster and the grinding is diminished somewhat, anyway.
I highly recommend this if you have the money. I have been very, very happy with mine.
I have to add one more thing to this. Buy your supplies here at scrapbook.com and NOT directly from Xyron. I've done that out of habit for the year and a half that I've had my machine and had nothing but headaches. Scrapbook.com is great about their shipping and tracking so stick with this site! :)

OK maybe it did't save my life, but it did save me time, money and headache. How: This machine is ready right out of the box. The software is included and is fairly easy to understand. This machine will cut out almost all fonts you can download off the internet, and most webdigs too. It saves me money in that I am not a very good cutter. Titles were so diffcult for me. But with the wishblade, it has become a snap. No more cutting and recutting and wasting paper. It's done right the first time. I save so much time because while the wishblade is cutting, I can be working on my page, getting it just right. I seriously dont know what i would do without it!

This tool is worth the investment! It is something I reach for on almost every single layout. I love the versatility of being able to cut a title out of any font I have on my computer and also love being able to cut it any size too! Since you can cut any font your title can then easily match your journaling. I also love all the designs you can cut as well! This product has saved me money because now I don't feel the need to buy alphas or stickers. I now make my own and don't have to worry about matching to papers or running out of letters! I love my wishblade!

I guess you either LOVE it or Hate it, I personally LOVE MY WISHBLADE, toke me couple hours over 2 days to figure everything I needed to know to get a clean cut, but now I LOVE it. Do not try to get it to cut as thin and small as you would expect a printer to print, if you dont expect it to do what it isn't meant to do, and if you take the time to properly set your page before to cut you should get exactly what you expect.

This is the best purchase I have yet to make. I will never have to purchase another letter. That alone, more than pays for the machine. You can use any true type font you have on your computer. You can also trace and cut shapes from your computer. Create welded words and so much more. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.
