I've had mine for about 2 years & I also have a Wishblade. This is great for die cut letters and other items that need a sticky back, but are really tricky to put liquid or other dry adhesive on. When you roll your letters or whatever through they come out with a protective film on top & bottom. All you have to do is press around your item to make sure the extra sticky stuff comes off on your top layer of film & doesn't stay with your letters. Some other models don't have that extra top layer, which is a pain, because then you have sticky stuff all over the bottom film & it'll stick like fly paper.
It doesn't come with a laminate, magnet or labeling refill and you do have to remove one to use the other. I've never used it for the other functions mainly because I can't remember to buy a refill cartridge.
I bought this after finding the 150. It is perfect for all of my projects with the cricut. Everyone was raving about this product, and I had to try it out myself because lets face it what works for some doesn't work for all. This seriously is the best adhesive I have ever worked with. Not only is it easy to use, but it is also versitile. I love the option to laminate and magnetize different things like pictures and such. It is also very easy to use, refill, and do whatever you need to do. This is one thing I absolutely cannot live without in my scraproom!
I have to say I really like my Xyron 510. I have had it for a few months now and am really glad that I got this size. It is large enough to put a few items through at a time, but you can still put the little stuff through it too. If I am doing little items, I will usually send other things through too, so as not to waste the adhesive. I have found this machine easy to use and very easy to refill. The only negatives I have found are: 1. The refills are rather expensive (so try not to waste that adhesive!) 2. Very small items can get hung up if you are not careful about putting them through. 3. Sometimes I have adhesive around the edges of my items even though I rub my fingers along the edges before removing the plastic covering (as recommended by Xyron). An adhesive remover usually takes care of this. Overall though - I love it!
Besides the 150 X, this is the other gadget I cannot live without! I use it for my Cricut letters that are larger than 1.5 inches and for vellum! Like the X, this is also very simple to use. Place your items in the opening, turn the handle and tear off the tape by pressing down and sliding the cutting blade on the back of the Xyron. Rub around the letters with something hard, peel off the clear layer, and you have your stickers! You might have a little excess adhesive around your letters, but you can use an adhesive eraser or art gum eraser to remove that.
I really like this machine because you can run vellum through it, and it puts an even layer of adhesive on the vellum. You cannot see the adhesive through your vellum. I used this machine when I was putting vellum quotes on a layout. It worked like a charm.
The refills are also easy to replace. The cartridges just snap in and out of the machine. Not only does this model have the permanent and repositionable refills, but you can also buy laminating or magnetic refills-very versatile!
