Perfect consistency for a piercing mat and I love that a 12x12 layout fits on top so you don't have to move a tiny mat around underneath while you are trying to pierce!

if you have ANY sew-easy product, this mat is a must have, it is the only thing i have found that works to actually pierce holes through paper/cardstock

Does the piercing ruler work with this mat or only the 8x13 mat?

Yes, it will fit in the 13" direction. The 12 X 13 mat is slightly thinner than the 8 X 13 mat, so the ruler doesn't fit quite as snuggly, but I think it would work fine. It's nice to have the tabs on the end help keep the ruler straight, almost like a T-square ruler. (Sorry it took me a while to answer, but I was out of town and couldn't try it on my supplies until I got home.)
