Sizzix - Ink-Its Collection - Letterpress Plate - Rustic Trellis

Give your cards, invitations and layouts a touch of elegance. The intricate design of the Rustic Trellis Ink-its Letterpress Plates are eye-catching and unique. It will create a perfect border on an A7-sized card. Letterpress Plates are easy to use and stylish. Sizzix Ink-its leave an ink-debossed impression on your project. To use, cover the Plate with ink from any ink pad, then place your paper on top. It's recommended that watercolor paper be used. Paper should be at least a medium weight or heavier (100 lbs or more) to achieve the optimum effect. Then, run the plate through a BIGkick, Big Shot or Vagabond machine with a set of Cutting Pads and the machine's Platform (all items sold separately). For more options, craft metal can also be used with the Letterpress Plates, but they should not be used with shiny or non-porous materials, as the ink will not dry. Please note: if you are using regular cardstock and are not achieving the results you would like, place a thin piece of craft foam in your sandwich, between the top Cutting Pad and the paper. To clean: use water and a paper towel to rub off the majority of the ink. If the ink will not rub off, Sizzix suggests using a stamp cleaner to clean the plates. Each Letterpress Plate measures 3" x 8" and is 1/8" thick.

  The sandwich is entirely wrong on the package: be careful or you will break your machine or crack a cutting mat as well as destroying a letterpress plate (Did the last two: Sizzix is replacing them). You need to open up all the flaps on the base piece. Ink the letterpress first with Versamark and then a pigment ink (not dye! I used Brilliance). Lay it face up on the base plate. Place the watercolor paper over the inked plate carefully and add one shim of cardstock and then one cutting mat. Roll it through and it embosses the ink into your watercolor paper. If you use plain cardstock, increase the shim count to three sheets of cardstock.
