The edges are definitely deep and give that beautiful 3D look, HOWEVER...... THE MIDDLE OR CENTER which is the majority of space/design, is BARELY VISIBLE 😞. And with no success, I have tried adding an extra layer or two of cardstock under the center, to try and get a better impression in that area. I'm very disappointed in this purchase and would have much rather used my money on something that does what it says. I do not recommend this item even though I love the idea, size and design.
I love this embossing folder. I use it to make book covers as bases for my little cardboard houses. The recessed center is perfect for a book cover. The previous reviewer is correct that you can't really make the center stand out, but that is the way it is designed. You put your embellishments or title or whatever you want to display in the center.
