The Silhouette Portrait is a smaller, lighter version of the popular Silhouette Cameo. But, while it's smaller in size, the Portrait is feature-rich. The Silhouette Portrait has the same motor and cutting mechanism as the Silhouette Cameo, yet the entire unit weighs only 3.5 pounds. The Portrait can cut all the same types of materials that the Cameo can (including all Silhouette branded materials) and includes a cutting mat that will accept Letter (8.5" x 11") and A4 sized sheet goods. Like the Cameo, the portrait has an optical scanner so it can be used with a home printer to create print and cut projects. Of course, the Portrait also includes the powerful Silhouette Studio software - allowing users to create their own designs and cut the fonts already installed on their computers. Use the Silhouette Portrait for vinyl lettering, scrapbooking, gift and favor boxes, school projects, custom apparel, card making, rhinestone templates and fabric ink stencils. No expensive cartridges to buy and store - only purchase the individual designs you want. Features include:

Just How I Imagined It

I love this machine. I waited years for something like this to come along and am so happy that it's just how I imagined it to be. Doesn't take up much space, easy to set up, cutting so far is flawless, lots of online tutorials. It's a bit noisy when cutting, but to me it's the sound of it saying "I'm finally here!". I read many reviews before purchasing and I know some have had issues with the stickiness of the mat or the blade cutting the mat or not cutting the paper correctly. There is a learning curve, but it is not huge or long-term if one stays calm and reaches out to learn from the experiences of others. Google rocks! I know this sweet little machine will take my card-making and projects to a higher level. Thank you Silhouette America! and thank you to my husband for a wonderful Christmas gift!

I love it!

Digital die cutting made easy and affordable! I get a little tired of hand cranking my dies so when it was time to upgrade I knew I wanted a Silhouette, and the portrait was right in my price range. The machine is really sleek and attractive. I love that it has all the same features of the cameo but in a smaller package. The software was a snap to install on my Mac. I like that it came preloaded with dies. Also the tutorial DVD helped me quickly understand the software. You might wanna pick up the spatula when you order as the sticky mat holds onto all the little scraps. One thing you might want to do is take the mat and transfer a little lint from some jeans onto the mat; my first cut on the mat was so sticky that it tore some of the paper.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my new Portrait! Had a little trouble learning how to use it, but contacted Silhouette & they promptly responded & it is up & running. Beautiful clean cuts, easy to use. Images are downloaded for .99, so no need to worry about costly cartridges or storage!
