The Silhouette Cameo is an electronic cutting tool made for personal use. Love This Machine!

I love, love, love my cameo! It is soooo much better than the cricut expression I shared with my sister. The cuts are so much more precise and the Print 'n' Cut feature is so fabulous. I've had the machine since April 2012 and I'm still learning new things that it can do! I love the sketch pens too! The program is free and easy to learn (quite similar to Sure Cuts a lot or Make the Cut)--but does require the use of a computer. The great part of this is that there are no crazy expensive cartridges to buy. You can make your images (which I've done using the trace function in the program) or buy individual images/files from the silhouette store. Easy Peasy!

Granted I was already familiar with die cutting machines and programs, but I was able to cut within an hour of opening the box. Awesome!

The only sort of negative thing I've found is the mats are more expensive than the cricut ones. But the cricut ones can be cut down to the size of the silhouette ones and they work just fine in the machine. :)

The blade is also expensive, but I have yet to replace mine-it's lasted 8 months of regular use. Better than the cricut. :)

I 150% recommend this machine to anyone and everyone. Best tool I own!

I now own 7 different machines, and the Cameo is my favorite.

I own the Gazalle, KNK, eCraft, Cricut Cake, Expressions, Imagine and now the Cameo. Yes, I'm a machine junkie. Out of all the machines, this is my absolute favorite. It cuts beautifully, and the PNC (Print 'n Cut) is to die for. The PNC's cut out accurately with no white space on the edges of the cutouts, unless you want it, and leaves no extra color on the negative.

Yes, this is my go to machine for just about all needs. The only thing it does not do is cut heavier chipboard, but cuts cereal box weight with ease. I'm done with purchasing carts, and machines that do not work as promoted, such as the Imagine. I just can't say enough about this wonderful machine. Except, you could spend a couple of thousand dollars on a machine with the abilities of the Cameo. This is one sweet machine. The big plus, you'll be able to use your own designs!

Don't hesitate, click the buy button, and be prepared to be amazed. I'd give it 10 stars if there was an option.

      The Best of the Best!

I've had the Silhouette original for several years and when the Cameo came out, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! I've had my Cameo for about a month now, and I LOVE it!!! It's quieter, quicker AND I can cut 12 x 12 with it! I think I've used the Cameo on every layout I've done since I bought it!

I also have the Quikutz Epic, the Cuttlebug, and the Quikutz's Revolution. The Cameo is BY FAR the best ever! It is SOOOOO easy to use. Need a new design...just pop over to the online store and you can get anything you want for $.99!! Several times a year they have sales when everything is $.50 per item. You also have the option of getting a download card for a monthly fee and download unlimited files for the one fee.

PLUS...you can cut almost ALL the fonts already on your computer...and DESIGN your own designs...how cool is that!!!

Okay...have you guessed?...I LOVE MY CAMEO!!

      great machine....

I love the Silhouette Cameo had it for about 3 months now. I like that fact I can use any kind of fonts on my computer to cut with it. I also like the fact I can make my own shapes etc... It took a little bit of time and figuring out the machine. But now have idea how to handle it. Almost got the cricut machine. But glad I choose this one. Since I am a graphic design major it works good for my other type of artwork. I just order a matte, another blade and a dust cover for my machine. My matte and blade are still in good working order. I just thought it would be good idea to have extra matte and blade on hand just in case.

It does sometimes tear up paper but you just have to play around with the speed and pressure and figure out what works will with your paper. All in all this machine does the job.

      Love, love, love this machine!

It took a few days of tearing paper and cursing, but I have grown to absolutely adore my Cameo. This is my first electronic die-cutting machine. I was trying to decide between the Cricut (since it was $249 at a big box store) or the Cameo. Every review and article I read said to go with the Cameo. Not only will I save money over time by not purchasing cartridges, but I can make my own designs and have them print the color and cut to the exact size that I want!

Be sure to watch LOTS of You Tube videos, and I would recommend getting an extra mat if you're going to do many duplicates (like for cards, packaging, etc.). That way you can have a mat on-deck while you're cleaning off the other mat.

      Best Machine ever!

I am not really into machines and I have never been really into die cutting either BUT I was sold on the Cameo because it could do so many other things like cutting heat transfer etc. And I am so glad I decided to go for it. This is the BEST large scrapbook purchase I have ever made! I love how easy and user friendly it is. I was up and running in no time at all. I love how many different crafts you can do with it (heat transfer, rhinestones, fabric ink, papercrafts etc!). I love how detailed the cuts can get and how you only need one blade and can adjust that blade so easily! I love the 12x12 capability. I literally have NOTHING NEGATIVE to say about this AWESOME machine. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

      Silhouette Cameo

The rollers on the product are very very difficult to adjust. I have arthritis and I have to get someone else to do it for me which is inconvenient. I love the product but it is very complicated. Fortunately they have many good tutorials

      order

I am happy with the machine but was not happy with the description on Black Friday, It says starter bundle but was not what I though. I had to purchase the designer edition to be able to use the machine to what I wanted which was using the svg cuts. I thought being a starter kit this would have been included. To me you should have said does not include. After ordering it and getting it I then found out that I could have ordered it from other places with this edition included for the same price. Thank you nd I do like the machine and the fast service.

      Love it!

I love this machine! It was easy to install, easy to use and I've used it every day since I received it. I can't wait to learn ALL of the features. The only draw back is the instruction manual. It's very vague and does not provide a lot of detail. I'm learning the majority of things on UTube.

    Questions & Answers
    • Is the Cameo 2 the same unit as the Silhouette Cameo 250? Also I understand there are 2 versions of the software - 1 of those would be the designer software. Does this unit come with the designer software? There is a lot of information on the Internet but I am having problems figuring out which is the old info and which is new. One last question - would you know if they plan on releasing a new machine in the next 6 months or so? I have a closet full of Cricuits because I cant seem to own one more than a couple months before they come out with a new version. I want to love this machine for a long time!! Oh wait - one more question - does anyone out there own a scanncut also? If so, which is your favorite machine? Thanks so much!   By: tmcnany (16-Feb-15) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • The designer studio software is always a separate purchase. The best reason to purchase that in my opinion is to add the ability to import and cut SVG files (there are a number of free cut files available at several sites). I think you also have expanded knife and eraser options as well as a few extras I don't find myself using much. I went a number of years without having the upgraded designer software, but now that I have it I can't imagine going back. Silhouette America puts it on sale once or twice a year, as well as some SVG sites offering it at a discount year round. I highly recommend it. Silhouette also just introduced the new Silhouette Curio to be releasing Fall 2015 which is designed to emboss and cut much thicker materials (among other things), but it won't be a replacement for the Cameo as it is much smaller in size and won't cut 12x12 (its mat will be 8.5" x 6"). • The Cameo 2 was just released in October of 2014. As I understand it, the only REAL difference between this one and the previous version is that the new one now has the touch screen, and the new rollers for grabbing/holding materials in place, and the cutter for material that is on a roll (like vinyl). I would highly doubt that they'll be releasing ANOTHER new machine in the next 6 months, since this one has only been since end of October.
I don't own either the Cameo (yet) or the Scan N Cut, but a friend does, and I've used both (plus I'm a longtime Cricut user). I have to say, I like the Silhouette MUCH better than the Scan N Cut. And the Silhouette seems to cut much cleaner than the Cricut. I also like the fact that you are NOT tied to having to use it with an internet connection. As long as you download your design library to your computer or a flash drive, you're good to go. That is a huge plus to me - along with fact that you don't have to buy cartridges. I'm determined to get a Cameo in the near future! Will this machine cut pop-up cards like rge Elizabeth Craft Designs die cuts Garden Bench or any of the Sizzix pop-up dies?   By: User (22-Sep-14) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!

      • The Cameo will cut pop-up cards. If you browse the Silhouette Design Store (used to be called Silhouette Online Store ) you can see the kinds of cut files they have available for immediate download. http://www.silhouettedesignstore.com/

If you upgrade from the basic software to the Designer software, you can cut SVG files, like designs from one of my favorites- SVGCuts.com (shop around for the software-there are often deals to get it for a good price)

Silhouette School shows how to make a basic pop up card then you can add whatever you want to it. It's one of the best places online to learn how to do things with your Cameo!

      • That did not answer the question. The question was not whether the machine used dies. The question asked whether the machine could accomplish cutting out pop up cards like machines that use dies. I hope someone is able to address the question as I would also like to know. I am trying to decide between this and the eclips by Sissix....I could have sworn it said you could sketch or print on this on another site - am I wrong? Also does anyone have the Curio as I saw them selling this with the curio on a site. Can anyone give me any feedback on which machine is best for me - I do papercrafting and cardcrafting as of right now. • You can sketch with the Cameo. I've had a Cameo since they first came out > 5 years. I LOVE it! I Scrapbook and make cards and use it for both. You can also create your own designs. Not need to buy cartridges as you can buy individual designs from the Silhouette Store. I have used a friend 's Cricuit....doesn't even compare to the Cameo in my opinion. There are also free cut files everywhere...check out some Silhouette boards on Pinterest. I would also recommend purchasing the Designer Edition program...it's about $49 at the Silhouette website. There is a learning curve with the Cameo...but it is SO worth it! By: sgoetter (04-Mar-16) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!
