I don't know why it says "2 layers" in the product description, but this is actually a tiny 2" x 2" die that is only one of the long and short parts of the snowflake. To create the snowflake that's shown, you have to run it through your die cutting machine 6 times. Then use a brad in the center to hold all the little pieces together. Kind of tedious and not really what I was expecting - hence the 4 star rating. But it is a pretty 2-1/2" snowflake when you're all done piecing it together.
the other reviewer is right,,,,,,,all this is is one of the long ice crystals and one of the small crystals,,,,,,,,,to make the die as shown, cut it SIX TIMES. it's disappointing and a pain in the butt when there are far easier snowflake dies out there. I won't buy another of this brand of dies.
