    Awesome Matte Gel

I used to use Mod Podge for my image transfers then I tried the Soft Matte Gel by Art Basics and it works so much quicker, cleaner and leaves less of a bulkiness to the rub off area. I really like this product, highly recommend it.

  • My new favorite medium

I purchased this after seeing it used on an online video. It’s definitely more expensive than the medium I used to use but I would purchase it again. The main difference is that it doesn’t go on as watery so the paper doesn’t buckle or fall apart. Since it has less water it dries faster, too. You don’t need much to adhere collage pieces and it can be brushed over the top to seal everything. The best part is that I can a use it to adhere buttons or small metal or jewelry pieces to my collage. Once it dries they are firmly in place.

Questions & Answers
  • Hello, can you tell me what soft matte gel is and what it's used for please? Thanks! Bethann M   By: Bethann M (19-Feb-21) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • What can Finnabair's Soft Gel do?
      - It acts as a liquid glue for paper and lightweight elements, it is perfect for collage techniques. Applied on the top of the project acts like a varnish.
      - Soft Gel acts as a resist: you can create interesting, resist and layering effects in combination with water based sprays, inks and paints.
      - It is a good sealer for products from Art Ingredients Line: seals in Fine Glitters or Art Sugar to create sparkly or iridescent effects on your project.
      - It seals Art Extravagance Crackle Paste to prevent larger pieces from chipping off.
      - It can be used for image transfer techniques.
      - It is great for mixing with colored mediums: pigments, inks, watercolor paints, acrylic paints. It doesn't change the intensity of the color of the paints – it changes into customized colored soft gel instead – it can be applied with a paintbrush like paints.
      - Soft Gel adds transparency to water based paints providing a range of interesting effects for your projects. By: Redesign With Prima (19-Feb-21) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!
