I have been scapping for 9 years now, off and on with my decorative painting (which I use for scrapping too), and my new love of learning to quilt. However, I have only been to one Scrap, so have learned by my own uses of paper, and very few embellishments but for eyelets and brads. I just started using buttons, but this showed me a new awareness of their use.
Wow was I ever surprised at would could be used to make the pages pop. This book really taught me alot I hadn't realized about using strips of paper. embellishments, small scraps of paper, etc.
I always mat my photos, and now realize that cutting out the background completely, can in some cases allow you to place rows of similar photos and therefore having it almost like a video!
All in all, I am very pleased with the book. Learning how to "lift" from someone else's page and make it your own, as well as new techniques.
I received it free with my other purchases, which makes it even more special!
Thanks Scrapbook.com!

I read this book in just two nights and it's now filled with sticky notes poking out of almost every page! The spiral binding makes it easy to lie flat on the work surface for reference, and the color photos are wonderful. Each page shows three layout sketches with more creative ideas than you can shake a chipboard monogram at. The six chapters each tackle a different aspect of design and the ideas are very creative. It takes a balance to inspire us to think bigger, yet not be so far out that we'd never try a certain layout. These three women got it just right.
I bumped up my order to get this book free, thinking that it would be worth the extra product. Today I sat down with it and I was wrong. When I get a decent book, I will fold corners of pages over that spark my interest. I didn't read a word of the book and found myself turning one page after another over. I found several ideas for layouts and have been stamping since 1986 and scrapping since around 1990. I doubt I'd recommend it for the $19.99 full price, but it is worth maybe $12-15 to me. For free, it was an excellent deal. Thanks scrapbook.com.
I have many scrap related books, but this one will be very helpful. I really enjoyed the focus on the different key areas of layouts and how to copy "lift" the elements for my own layouts. I am now looking at other layouts in a whole different way and it has opened up my mind to so much. I always thought I had to try and copy something I liked exactly, but now see how to use just some ideas to make the layout my own. Photos are clear and vibrant and the pages are sturdy and well bound. This book should hold up to repeated use on my scrap table.
I am a relatively new scrapper and bought this book to learn and to use it for ideas. I took it to a scrapbooking girls weekend last month and everybody raved about the book. So I bought a copy for one of them for her birthday so she would have her own copy - which she was quite thankful for.
If you are new to scrapbooking or want a handy tool for page layout ideas then this book is a MUST.
