    Works well in my Cuttlebug

I purchased these edge dies a couple weeks ago, but only just today finally pulled them out to use them. Can I just say....they are Awesome!! I'm using them to decorate a mini album I'm creating.

I knew I could use the dies in my Cuttlebug if I ran them lengthwise, but I was really concerned that the dies may be too wide across the platforms in the Cuttlebug. They aren't!! They fit width wise on the platforms without a problem. Can I say how relieved I am that I don't have to buy a bigger machine just to use these edge dies. Yay!

The first time I used one of the dies to cut I used a bit of painters tape at 3-4 different spots along the top edge of the die to hold it in place, face up, on the C plate. Then I placed my cardstock over the top followed by the A plate. I used the simple edge with the tiny pin dots along the edge. It is not the most detailed die in the set but also not the simplest. It did a fairly good job with just two passes (pushed through the machine then pulled back out the same side I started). The wave pattern that can be embossed into the cardstock I'm cutting was not evenly patterned across the width of the cut.

I also happen to own the thin metal shim recommended for extra detailed dies. I wanted to see if maybe that would help give a more even appearance across the cut/emboss area. So n my second attempt to cut/emboss the same die I added the metal shim under the C plate. I got a much better cut plus it also had a more even embossing result all the way across. I highly recommend using the shim if you have one, or you could try just adding a piece of cardstock under the C plate and see if that works for you.

Spellbinders Borderabilities A2 Bracket Borders one

I would recommend this product definitely. It takes a good idea and some practice to use it - but I feel if I can do it - it is worth doing.

Just creates a different look to your cards.

    I need more practice

I need to use these alot more before I can truly give an accurate review. I don't know if the B plates on my Cuttlebug as so worn or what...but they didn't cut very well the first time I tried them. I wonder if the kind of paper makes a difference??

Borderabilities Dies are great for different edging finishes

What I like so much about this product is that you can get so many different decorative edges.

Questions & Answers
  • Would it be possible to do a tutorial on the Spellbinders A2 Scalloped Borders One? I am not getting the idea on how to put them together after I die cut them. Do I cut them out after I die cut them? Please forgive my stupidits. Debbie   By: debbierussell (10-Mar-17) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • Those dies that have the raised line (4 dies) will cut off the paper at that spot. Those without the raised line (the 3 wider dies) just add the decoration. You can combine a decorative and one with the raised line together, one next to the other, to add the decoration and cut the paper off. My advice would be to play with them a little, maybe on some scrap paper, to see what they do. Hope that helps. By: jazh2ohouse (11-Mar-17) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you!
