This was my first purchase of an electronic die cutting machine. It was a long-thought-out decision about whether I need one and which one I should get if I do, and ultimately I made what I considered the risky decision - a machine that is relatively new on the market and has limited usage and review information available. I received the machine, have played with it, and my review is in – it’s AWESOME!! There will always be a learning curve, and I’ve eaten some paper with this machine, but I’m so far LOVING IT. The key here is to use all available resources – the eCraft Yahoo group and Purple Paper Paradise have been far above and beyond helpful, and I’ll forever be grateful for their persistence and insistence in the greatness of this machine. I’ve already found it so useful in my work, and I’ll be posting pictures soon. Overall, this machine is very well made (even my skeptical boyfriend noted that it doesn't look like a toy, but a realy "piece of equipment"), arrives properly packaged for transport, and cuts well with the right settings. Keep track of what settings you use for different materials and brands of paper! There is a very useful chart on Purple Paper Paradise that I highly recommend downloading for reference. I had read some reviews out there, that were not so kind to this cutter, but the thought of getting rid of mats really appealed to me, so I went for it, and so glad I did! The machine cuts really well, and does intricate cuts with ease! The settings, were a change to get used to, but it wasn't bad. I guess, getting your head wrapped around the no mat concept is tricky, but once you do, you never look back!
I received a wonderful gift from my daughter for Christmas...the new E Craft machine! I have never had a personal cutting machine before. This machine does not require cutting mats!! I had questions about the set-up and the staff @ Craftwell was really helpful and even emailed me a setting guide that consumers put together! I get excited everytime something new comes out. I haven't had much time to play but so far I am very impressed with the cuts I have done. Did I mention...NO MATS! You can also create banners of ANY length! Great for parties, events and business use. LOVE my new Ecraft! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I would like to see more designs but I know they will come in time. The other downfall is that it is quite large and therefore not as portable as other machines.
