I've had the same white, revolving kitchen tool organizer on my drawing table for years. It has been home to all of my tools and I'd always dreamed of replacing it someday with something as useful and classy as this carousel.
I love the nameplate feature (did you know there's room behind the label to safely store a single-edge razor blade). I also love the small drawers. I appreciate that the revolving feature is stable. My drawing table has slight slope to it and my old carousel would always turn the heaviest side forward - this carousel doesn't do that.
I trimmed and old cutting mat to fit into the bottom of one of the side bins where I store tools that might otherwise mare the finish. I also saved the storage tubes from mini M&M's and have placed them other bins to help hold narrow tools upright more securely.
Thanks for such a useful and beautiful organizer, Making Memories. I'm a happy and loyal fan!

I was pleasantly surprised at the convenience of this storage carousel, and just how many items it holds. I was able to empty 4 drawers in a storage cart, and organize all the contents in this desktop carousel. I have various pairs of edging scissors, as well as cutting scissors, X-acto knives, a Fiskar hand drill, rulers, hand paper punches, embossing stylus, paint/chalk brushes, and glue sticks in the top level storage bins. In the small drawers, I have threading needles, cutting wheels for a rotary paper cutter, replacement blades for the X-acto knives, decorative paper clips, etc. This dekstop carousel matches the Making Memories and other brand's white storage drawer units, and really helps keep all the tools and products you use most often, close at hand, without fumbling through drawers to find them. This would also be a useful and attractive holiday gift too.

I love this organizational tool! (see me blog 12.05.08). It has changed the way I scrap by making everything I use so convenient and easy to get to. I compared this product to the Pottery Barn carousel and there is much more room in this one.
They only *small* complaint: the drawers have magnets that should keep the drawers shut. Most of my drawers came with the magnets attached to each other and NOT attached to the back of the drawer wall. It didn't seem to make any difference in how the drawer worked - so I wasn't concerned about it, and I can reattached the magnets myself if I want to. The drawers stay closed even without the magnets, so I'm not even sure why they are there!

I've been weighing the pros & cons on this item for a while before I got one and now I just love mine. I scrap away with friends quite often and needed something portable, when I realized that the little drawers had magnets to hold them in place I knew this would work for me.
As mentioned in a previous review, I too had a AMM totally cool tote. It really was to tall for me. I found myself pulling stuff out and digging around just to find things in the AMM style tote. This system is the perfect height and the ball-bearings are of good quality and it spins very easy.
Maybe a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for and this is a tool that will last.

I am sooo glad that I finally got this and I had fun altering it too!! This has to be the sturdiest, and heaviest carousel I have seen on the market and well worth the money. My only complaint would be the metal the magnets stick to on the drawers were all loose on mine and stayed stuck to the drawer. It was no big deal with me because I painted my carousel and then reattached the metal parts using a stronger glue. So check the back of the drawers if you purchase one. I also loved that I was able to remove the hardware so I could paint it. Another Great product from Making Memories!!
