Brayers, in my opinion, are a necessity for scrapbooking, paper crating and cardmaking. When using glue stick or liquid adhesives, a brayer can add the necessary pressure to stick cardstocks and chipboard together. Brayers can help you get lots of ink onto a surface or a stamp too. They can be covered with rubber bands, bubble wrap or plastic wrap to add interesting ink texture to paper and cardstock. Next time you put a stack of books on your just glued layout think twice about owning an inexpensive brayer. Or how about those of you who sit on your work to get adhesives to stick? And, should you get a knot in your stomach the first time you stain the roller with permanent ink, relax! Stained brayers are the mark of a serious scrapper or cardmaker.

I needed a brayer for a class and had no idea what it was for. I was really surprised with how versitile a brayer really can be. For the class, we only used it to secure items that had just been glued together so they adheared quickly. Since then, I've found that using it for inking large stamps/areas works really well also. It's good for rolling clay and other items as well. I just find myself reaching for it with almost every project and am so glad I got it for my class. The one I have - which isn't this exact one also washes really easy and there is very little stain so my projects and where it's housed do get any excess product on them.
I've just bought and used a brayer for the first time for the Creative Escapes get away. We used it to press down our pattern paper on a book that we were covering. We had used a glue stick for adhesive, and after rolling the brayer back and forth several times, the adhesive stuck so much better, and none of the edges curled up while it was drying. I'll use this every time now when glueing down a larger area. I truly works great!
If you are a stamper, you need a brayer. This one is quality material. I have had mine for years: inks paper, stamps, levels out glued pages, smooths paper on large block stamps, mixes paints/inks in tray or on paper... you'll always find a need for a brayer. Just take care of the rubber (keep from glue, heat) and it'll last a looong time.
This is 1 of those must have tools. Many techniques you will need this for. It is great to spread ink onto bigger stamps, smooshing inks and paints on to paper, and getting a good contact for glued items. This tool is in arms length of my work area.
At first I had bought this for a class I was doing and didnt think I would really use it that much, but I got it and LOVE IT! I use it all the time and it works great!
If it weren't for a scrap night I went to recently, I would have never known about this tool. This is a MUST have for anyone serious about scrapping!
I use this in 90% of my projects, whether for inking or helping adhesive to stick. I don't know what I would do without it!
