This is a Can't Live Without product. When it first came out, I wasn't sure whether I would really use it. I am so glad I bought it. The only negative I have regarding the product is that if you use it with a paper piercer or instant setter, anything that is using the mat for a cushion, I have noticed that the indentations remain on the reverse side of the mat (not the work space) and that is causing my mat to curl up slightly at the edges. Now on to the good stuff about this mat:
The mat itself is large and gives plenty of room to work on a 12x12 page. The ruler is magnetic and sticks to the precision mat and I use it frequently to cut straight lines with my Exacto rather than pulling out the paper trimmer. It works great because you can line the ruler up exactly using the measuring tools on each side of the mat. I also use the magnets that come with the mat to hold my rub-ons in place, which prevents them from slipping. As I work on the page, I use the magnets also to hold the pieces in place and help me visualize whether I like the layouts before I commit. I would recommend this product to everyone! I

I Love, Love, LOVE this mat! I have been wanting one of these magnetic mats for a long time and finally gave in and bought one. I am so glad--I don't know how I ever scrapped without it! It is definitely one of my favorite scrapping inventions to come along in quite awhile. The magnetic ruler and other little magnets make laying out a page so much easier--if you put magnets on everything the layout doesn't get messed up as you rearrange things, or when you start gluing things down. I love this so much I am already planning on giving it as a gift to my 2 sister-in-laws that scrap! The only advice I would offer on it is that you will probably want to buy an extra set of the little magnets--I didn't think it came with quite enough. If you do 2 page layouts like I do you may end up wanting 2 of these--if I had more space I would definitely be getting another one!

I love how big it is.
I love how I don't have to pull out the trimmer to cut anymore.
I love how I can hold things down before I glue.
I love how after I glue- the magnets help hold it down for a better stick.
The magnets that come with this are enough to get started I have run out on several occasions. I used my sons magnetix and they worked well as a back up if I needed it.
I did have issues with the mat not holding up to use. I've had it for 3 months now and it had an issue coming apart and warping.
HOWEVER, I contacted basic grey about this problem and they feel I had a defective mat and are replacing it for me. Their customer service is awesome.
And in case someone at Basic Grey reads this I am also putting my $.02 in for a 16x20 mega mat. THat would be awesome.

Well, not really, but I kept looking at it and trying to justify the purchase. Finally, one day I got tired of just looking and I had the extra money and I did it. I bought it, and sincerely, I do not regret it a bit. I love my mat! I can even work with thick chipboard and those magnets are so strong. They keep everything where is supposed to be and you can re-arrange and re-arrange until you are pleased. I even hang it on the wall with paper and chipboard and embellishments, to find it next day just the way I left it. Amazing! I shake it up and down; side to side and IT DOES NOT MOVE. I did have to buy extra magnets but I did not care. If I start working on a LO and I can't finished, no problem. I know nothing is going to move those magnets but me.
This is how I feel about my MM (Magnetic Mat).

I have a larger mood board in my studio used for big album projects but I use this large magnetic mat as my portable single-layout mood board. I prop it up against the wall in front of where I'm working and use the super strong magnets to hold my photos, paper swatches, sketches, ideas and some embellishements for the layout in one place. The layout elements are safely up and off of my drawing table and in one place so I can view them for inspiration before I start the layout. I'm able to see everything I want to use which helps me to stay focused on my intended outcome (though the layout may go a different direction in the end it's nice to have a point of departure in the beginning).
